Map Your Neighborhood (MYN) is a
program designed to help neighborhood blocks prepare for disasters.
|
MYN will help you to:
-
Learn the 9
steps to take immediately following a disaster to secure your home and protect
your block (15-20 homes on your street). -
Create a
neighborhood block map identifying locations of natural gas and propane tanks.
-
Create a
contact list that helps identify those with specific needs such as elderly,
disabled or children who may be home alone during certain hours of the day.
-
Identify the
skills and equipment each neighbor has that would be useful in effective
disaster response. Work together
as a team to evaluate your neighborhood block during the first hour following a
disaster and take the necessary actions.
The Bigelow Highlands Neighborhood Association has begun to coordinate organized MYN blocks, the Metro Church, Capital Vision Christian Church, and the BHNA Board for disaster preparedness. If you would like more information on how you can create a MYN program on your BHN block please see below and also call Angie Warner-Rein, (360) 705-3459.
